Supervision / non-managerial support

Supervision

Monica is an accredited  supervisor with IAHIP and IACP and completed her supervision  training in the Dublin Counselling and Therapy Centre in Dublin in 2008. She served as a tutor at Turning Point training institute for 5 years from 2010, and taught skills to students on the Masters  programme in psychotherapy. As a supervisor, she welcomes both students and the more experienced practitioner and acknowledges the need as a therapist to find a supervisor who can support us in the work with clients whilst ensuring the effectiveness of the work.

She also works with other professionals in the caring field to provide off line non managerial support. With a background in social work, she is well aware of the demands of working with people with complex and difficult issues and the need for professionals to have good support in order to continue to do the work well. In her experience, it can be very helpful to have a place outside the workplace to talk about the personal impact of the work and availed of this herself throughout much of her career as a social worker and later in other contexts.

She was the  Regional Clinical supervisor for Carecall (www.carecallwellbeing.ie) until 2016 and her role was to support  counsellors  providing short term counselling to teachers.

She is now an established trainer and has run many training events for companies in areas such as Managing Stress, Coping with Change , Mental health issues and Building Resilience.
